Our Litmus paper
Proving that our water is acidic

OUR WATER

OUR SOIL
We found some very tiny organisms under the  dissecting  microscope.
The organisms looked like tiny ants running around and we couldn't identify them.
We also looked at our soil under the microscopes and found some seeds, roots and some weeds growing.

This is the pH of water
We tested it by using litmus paper.

Edited Observation of BIOTIC COMPONENTS

We have observed that some of our earth worms have reproduced and our snail died . Some insect larvae was found in the Biotic Zone. Our weeds having not been doing so well as the 2 out of the 4 have died.

This a table of our weeds showing all the heights that we have measured.

The Biotic Factors of our Eco - Column.

-We have 6 earthworms in our decomposition zone.

-We have one flower in our tera zone.

-We have one weed in our terra zone.

-We have small microscopic water bugs in our aqua zone.

Data collection of Abiotic components

We noticed that the water temperature has decreased by 1 degree in the last week (22) degrees.
The temperature of the room has been consistant over the peroid of the weeks as its been very warm and sunny.
The pH of the water is acidic.
Our eco-column is in a corner of our classromm so it is not getting as much sunlight as the other side.

Luke Viljoen has contirbuted to all the tests that were preformed here
Jeremy has been taking pictures and putting them on the blog.

Changes In The Biotic Factor

In the Biotic factor we have observed that our Cactus was not effiecent  so we decided to remove it. Some weeds had grown but they eventually died.
We will be putting some new plants in soon.
We have noticed that some insects have gone into the biotic zone.
